Our hearts and prayers go out to the family of our classmate Buzzie Dils on the passing of his wife, Pam.
Pamela Enoch Dils, 79, of Parkersburg, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024, at her residence. She was born November 14, 1944 in Parkersburg and grew up on Washington Avenue, a daughter of the late Tessie McCroskey Enoch Jefferies and Preston Enoch. Pam was a joy to be around. From a tender age, her generous, fun-loving personality won her countless friends. Pam and her sister, Gloria, were also true beauties: as caring and sincere as they were attractive.
In school, Pam participated in the Girls' Athletic Association and Glee Club. She was a natural athlete who enjoyed many sports, especially tennis. Little did she know that she was in for the match of her life! Pam's future husband spied her playing tennis at City Park in 1962, not long after she'd graduated from Parkersburg High School; he asked her out the next time he saw her.
Pam married "Buzzie" Dils in October 1963, and they soon settled on Morningside Circle. Their home became one of the neighborhood's hospitality hubs; the cozy, den bar was the perfect place for the Morningside gang to shoot the breeze, often singing along to Neil Diamond or other 60's and 70's music. They regularly invited people over to watch WVU games and NASCAR races, too.
During the warmer months, Pam and Buzzie took the party to their river park property. Family and friends will cherish all the fond memories of cookouts, music, and good times together on the river. Pam spent her last, precious day on earth with her loved ones at the river, watching the Olympics and occasionally telling Buzzie to be quiet, since bickering was the love language of their long marriage.
Pam was fiercely devoted to her family, striving every day to make their house a home. She took pride in preparing her children's favorite meals and dedicated herself to ensuring the holidays were special for them. She also faithfully attended her children's and grandchildren's extracurricular activities. Pam was a gentle woman of few words, but she would morph into a Mama Bear if anyone trifled with her family.
Pam also had a fulfilling job as a real estate agent and initially worked alongside her mother at the realty company Tess founded. Pam delighted in helping home buyers achieve their dreams, and she valued the friendships she cultivated throughout her fifty-year career. Pam’s sophistication, business savvy, and professionalism never failed to impress her clients or the community at large.
Pamela Dils is survived by: her husband of 60 years, Sherman "Buzzie" Dils III; her two children, Sherman "Brett" Dils IV (Julie) and Jan Dils (Chuck Hughes); her four grandchildren, Alexandra Dils, Branson Dils, Hayden Hughes, and Spencer Hughes; her niece, Cassandra Moore; her brother, Kevin Enoch; her sister-in-law, Vicki Dils; her great-niece, Zoie Dils; her many close friends, Lyn Snyder, Wanda and Steve Tatman, Bill Leachman, Seldon Wigal, and Lee Gardener Reed, among others.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her sister, Gloria Enoch; her niece, Sunni Dils; her dear friends, Nancie Divvens Albright, Pat and Bob Hull, Jayne Leachman, and James Snyder.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 8, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home of Vienna from 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. The family will also receive visitors at the church one hour prior to services.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, August 9, at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Parkersburg with Pastors Ray Maleke and David Carrico officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg. In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Pam's memory by making a donation to the Humane Society of Parkersburg: https://www.hsop.org/directed-giving

Our hearts and prayers go out to the family of our classmate Linda Jenkins.
.
Linda Kay Bailey, 83, of Vienna, WV, went home to her heavenly Father and Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on May 30th, 2024. Her beloved husband, three daughters, and sister were by her side.
Linda was born on Sept. 29th, 1940, in Parkersburg, WV. She was married 59 years to the love of her life, James Henry Bailey, Jr. Linda was a strong, faithful Christian her whole life, an active member of Grand Central Church of Christ in Vienna, WV. She always looked forward to going. Linda was instrumental in helping many family members and friends become Christians in a very quiet, kind way. She always put the needs of others before her own.
Linda was a country girl, with a deep love for the outdoors and she dearly loved animals. She rode her horse, Prince, through the woods every day growing up. As an adult, she always had a dog by her side, usually one she had rescued as a stray. At her request, her husband Jim built her 4 chicken coops over the course of their marriage. Even as a granny, her love of animals was evident. She would walk to the bus stop to meet her oldest grandsons, Evan and Luke, with a big sheep and goat on a leash. And this wasn't in the country, it was through a neighborhood. This is an example of the kind of woman Linda was, happy and funny and one-of-a-kind. She loved her family and it always showed.
Linda was an amazing cook, especially her hot rolls, which were the talk of the town. She loved baking pies and was generous in baking them for others.
Linda was an incredibly selfless, loving mother who worked hard and sacrificed much so that her children and grandchildren could have a wonder-filled childhood with hikes in the woods, impromptu picnics, lots of home-cooked meals, and so much fun and so, so much love. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life.
In addition to her husband, Linda is survived by three daughters, Jama Cay Davis (Marty) of Williamstown, WV, Brette Nicole Swarr (Chris) of Walker, WV, and Megan Noel Dougherty (Jason) of Vienna, WV. She is survived by five grandchildren, Evan Davis (Mariah) of Waterford, Ohio, Luke Davis (Brooke) of Parkersburg, WV, Ryder Davis of Williamstown, WV, Tucker Dougherty of Vienna, WV, and Sophie Dougherty of Vienna. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Cooper James and Easton Luke Davis of Parkersburg, and Oaklyn Fay Lang of Waterford, Ohio. Linda is survived by her siblings Sandra Hughes (Jim), Stanley Jenkins (Pam), and Timothy Jenkins (Mary), plus a very large and loving extended family.
The family would like to thank the Amedysis Hospice team for the loving kindness and care shown to Linda.
Funeral services will be Monday, June 3rd, at 11 a.m. at Grand Central Church of Christ in Vienna. Ministers Jason Dougherty (Linda's loving son-in-law), and Joe Spivy will be officiating. Burial will be at Everly family cemetery in Eatons, WV. Visitation will be Sunday evening, June 2nd, 6-8 p.m, and Monday one hour prior to the service, at Grand Central Church of Christ.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Grand Central Church of Christ in Linda’s name would be much appreciated. Please pick some wildflowers out of your yard and bring them to the visitation or service if you're able.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the family of our classmate, Dr. Joe Woofter
.
Dr. Joseph Corder Woofter, F.A.A.D, and former Captain in the United States Army, 83, passed away November 30, 2022, in his home, surrounded by his closest loved ones; just as he wished.
Joe, affectionally known as "Doc," was born July 7, 1939, in Parkersburg, W.V. to the later Andrew C. Woofter, M.D. and Martha E. (Corder) Woofter. He attended Parkersburg High School, (Class of 1958) but, due to a slight misunderstanding with Mr. Conner, the former Principal, and an ill-placed firecracker, subsequently graduated from Virginia Episcopal School, in Lynchburg, V.A. in 1958. He then enrolled at the University of Michigan but returned home to graduate from Marietta College with a B.S. in Biology, having found Michigan weather disagreeable, noting Michigan had "nine months of winter and three months of poor sledding." Afterwards, he attended the Medical College of Virginia, during which time, he met the love of his life, Mary Ellen (Lindsay) Woofter. Following his graduation from medical school, they were wed on September 20, 1969.
Joe then promptly enlisted in the United States Army as a Captain, where he served as a General Medical Officer. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Parkersburg and worked for the late Oliver H. Brundage, M.D. as a General Practitioner. He became Board Certified to practice medicine in the state of West Virginia in January, 1972. He then applied to and was accepted into the University of Missouri School of Medicine’s Department of Dermatology, where he completed a three-year long residency. He and Mary Ellen then returned to Parkersburg in the fall of 1975. He opened his office in August 1, 1976 where he maintained his private medical practice for the last 42 years.
Everyone who knows Joe knows he cared deeply for his patients and maintained his dedication to their health until the day he died. Often patients would ask when they could come see him and his standard reply was "when can you get here?" For that very reason, many of his patients have remained with him twenty years or better. Perhaps the only thing he loved more than practicing dermatology was his family, in particular his daughter, her husband, and his four grandchildren who were the apple of his eye.
Joe is survived by his daughter Annemarie C. Woofter-Maggard and her husband Bradley M. Maggard of Parkersburg, and their four children, Joseph, Michael, Lindsay, and James Prestley Maggard; nephew Andrew C. Woofter (and wife Val), and their five children Annie, Sarah, Drew, Nelson, and Steven Woofter all of Parkersburg; and niece Anne W. Romance (and husband Lance) of Marathon, FL, and their daughters, Autumn and Amber. He is preceded in death by the love of his life, the late Mary Ellen Woofter and his elder brother Andrew C. Woofter, II.
